Rock Hill, S.C. -- Winthrop men's soccer team unveiled its highly anticipated schedule for 2024 season, sparking enthusiasm among supporters and players alike. With an array of challenging matchups and the Big South games.
Head Coach
Daniel Ridenhour expressed his optimism and readiness for the season. "We've been diligently preparing for this moment, and our schedule reflects our commitment to excellence and growth. Each game presents a chance for our team to showcase their talent and determination."
The schedule kicks off with an electrifying away game against South Carolina (Aug. 22), setting the stage for an intense competition right from the start. Following the opener at South Carolina the Eagles welcome Furman to Eagle Field for the home opener on Aug. 25.
As the season progresses, the team will face off against formidable opponents both at home and away, providing fans with plenty of opportunities to support their favorite players.
"We have a schedule that will test our abilities and help us elevate our game," remarked Coach Ridenhour.
The schedule is loaded with key matchups that include South Carolina, Furman, Queen's, NC State, Virginia Tech among others. The conference slate features four home contests versus Gardner-Webb, Longwood, High Point and Presbyterian College while the Eagles will have challenging league road games at USC Upstate, UNC Asheville. "With each match, the players aim to not only showcase their prowess but also forge a cohesive unit that thrives under pressure," added Ridenhour.
"We are focused on taking each game one step at a time, respecting our opponents while also pushing ourselves to new heights," Ridenhour emphasized. "Our goal is clear: to compete fiercely and leave everything on the field."
The Big South Conference Championship will include the Top 6 teams in the league standings. All of the games throughout the championship will be played at the home field of the higher seed.
