SERIES HISTORY VS. CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The two schools will meet for the 107-109th time with Winthrop leading the series, 70-36 overall and 41-10 in Rock Hill. Last season in 2023, the Buccaneers took two of three from the Eagles in North Charleston, S.C. by scores of 4-3, 2-6 and 4-7 from Apr. 6-7. The games that ended 4-3 and 2-6 were a split doubleheader on Apr. 6. The Eagles and the Buccaneers met for the first time on May 12, 1990 on a neutral site with Winthrop winning 3-1 on the way to winning the first six and 11 of the first 12 meetings from 1990 to 1994. Charleston Southern's only strings of success in the series was a 14-10 run from 1994 to 2000 and a 9-3 edge from 2011-2014. Outside of that, it has been all Eagles. From 2001-2011, Winthrop won 28 of 33 contests from the Buccaneers, including 13 straight from 2003 to 2007 and has won 18 of the last 25 meetings since 2014. Winthrop is looking for their first victory in the series since 2022, when the Eagles won two of three meetings that year.
