Clinton, S.C. – Winthrop continued Big South play with a loss in the first game of a three-game series at Presbyterian College by a final score of 20-3 Friday night. Winthrop moves to 13-18-1 overall and 4-6 in Big South play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jake Randolph came home to score on an error while in the process of stealing third with one out in the bottom of the second, putting the home standing Blue Hose up 1-0.
• Winthrop quickly knotted things up in the top half of the third on Ricky Teel's RBI single to right field with two outs.
• Presbyterian scored four runs in the bottom of the frame with one out to break the tie.
• Noah Lebron singled to bring in two runs and then on the next play Jack Gorman hit a two-run home run to make the score 5-1.
• The Blue Hose scored five more runs in the next inning to lead 10-1.
• Winthrop nearly got a run in the Eagle half of the fifth as Anthony Ruocco reached third on a passed ball with two outs but Teel flew out to end the threat.
• Presbyterian scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 18-1 lead.
• With Abe Affholter on third and looking to score following a passed ball with one out in the seventh, the next two Eagles were retired to end the inning.
• Ryan Becker homered in the bottom half of the inning to extend PC's lead to 18.
• The Eagles ended PC's 19-0 run dating back to the third inning as Cole Griffith drilled a two-run shot with no one out in the top of the eighth.
• The Blue Hose ended the game in their half of the eighth when Winthrop walked in a run with the bases loaded with two outs.
