Buies Creek, N.C. – Winthrop softball dropped its final game of the Camel Stampede after a 4-3 loss at Campbell, Sunday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Winthrop struck first in the top of the second inning
- Emma Jackson doubled down the left field line with one away and then moved to third on a ground out
- Peyton Rivas reached on an error and then stole second before KaDedra Temple stood in and homered to left for a 3-0 lead
- In the top of the fifth, Paige Rivas was hit by a pitch to lead off and then stole second to get into scoring position
- Ashton VanHouse followed with a single to put runners at the corners and then stole second
- The Eagles were unable to add to their lead as Megan Powell grounded out to short and then Paige Rivas was picked off
- After fouling off a couple of pitches Ansley Lee struck out to end the threat
- In the bottom of the sixth, Campbell started the inning with back-to-back singles
- The Eagles did get the lead runner at third for the first out before T. Doster delivered a single up the middle to make it 3-1
- Camels added one more on a sacrifice fly before the Eagles got out of the inning
- With one away in the bottom of the seventh, Campbell had back-to-back singles to get the tying run in scoring position
- The next batter reached on a fielder's choice as all runners were safe to load the bases
- A walk on a full count to A. Henault brought home the tying run and then a fielding error allowed the winning run to score
- Reese Basinger tossed a complete game of 6.1 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits (only one extra base hit) with a walk and two strikeouts
EXTRA BASES
- Emma Jackson and Ashton VanHouse have now hit safely in three straight games
- Paige Rivas finished with two stolen bases on the day and VanHouse had one
- Rivas is now at 54 in her career, ranking 5th all-time and VanHouse ranks 4th all-time with 56
- This was the sixth game on the season in which Rivas had multiple steals

Winthrop is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. for a midweek matchup with Queens.
