Buies Creek, N.C. – Winthrop lost 6-2 to Saint Joseph's and 5-4 to Incarnate Word in extra innings on day two of the Camel Stampede, on Saturday.

WHAT HAPPENED
vs. Saint Joseph's
- Eagles grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning
- Paige Rivas drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on an infield single from Ashton VanHouse
- Two batters later Kaylyn Little singled to load the bases
- A wild pitch moved the runners as Rivas raced home for a 1-0 lead
- Mackenzie Smith followed with a single to left center, scoring VanHouse
- St. Joseph's grabbed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning
- The first three batters walked and Sierra Fretz singled to center to plate the first run
- A fielding error led to another run as the bases remained loaded
- Haley McMenamin made it 3-2 on a sacrifice fly to center
- The Hawks added three more in the sixth
- Eagles tried to rally in the seventh as Megan Powell led off with a walk and two batters later Bailey Warren delivered a pinch-hit double to put two runners in scoring position
- The threat ended on a pop up from Emma Jackson
vs. Incarnate Word
- Winthrop took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning
- Aspen King reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on a two-out single from KaDedra Temple
- Reese Basinger stepped up and doubled down the right field line, scoring King and Temple
- The Cardinal tied the game in the bottom of the third inning after back-to-back RBI doubles from Victoria Altamirano and Aaliyah Garcia
- Incarnate Word grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fourth as a run scored on a ground out
- Eagles took the lead in the sixth, pushing two runs across
- Ansley Lee and Jackson drew back-to-back walks to lead off and two batters later both scored on a double from Kaylyn Little to right center
- The Cardinal tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning
- In the eighth inning Powell was placed on second and after getting sacrificed to third, tried to score on a grounder to third but was thrown out at the plate
- Incarnate Word loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth and a hit batter plated the winning run
EXTRA BASES
- Ashton VanHouse stole the 55th base of her career as she's looking to become just the 4th Eagle in program history with 60 or more in a career
- Paige Rivas moved into a tie for 37th on the all-time hit list and now has 120 in her Winthrop career

Eagles will finish up play at the Camel Stampede on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. against Campbell.
