Reese Basinger was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Basinger was 3-1 in the circle last week, posting a 1.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts to eight walks in 23.1 innings. After suffering a loss in her first start of the week, she picked up a win in relief to help the Eagles split a doubleheader at UNC Greensboro. She tossed 3.1 innings allowing just two hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
The second start of the week came on Feb. 16 against Binghamton as she allowed just one run on two hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in a 2-1 victory in eight innings. Her final start of the week came in the final game of the week as she allowed one run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Appalachian State.
This is the third time Basinger has earned conference pitcher of the week honors in her career.
