Rock Hill, S.C. – The Winthrop lacrosse program opened their 2024 season with a 20-2 loss to the Davidson Wildcats at home on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The visitors scored the first 13 goals of the night.
- Scarlet Cifarelli got the Eagles on the board at the 11:38 mark of the third quarter.
- The Wildcats scored six more goals.
- Katie Witmer scored Winthrop's second and final tally with 5:40 remaining in the game.
- Davidson scored one last time to account for the final margin of victory.

- Winthrop moves to 100-95 all-time as a program.
- Winthrop had eight saves to Davidson's five.
- Winthrop nabbed 12 ground balls to Davidson's 11.

Winthrop travels to Durham, N.C. on Sunday, Nov. 18 for their first ever meeting with the Duke Blue Devils. The game will be at 2:00 p.m. EST and the game will be shown on ACCN Extra.
