Lacrosse Opens Season By Falling To Davidson

Rock Hill, S.C. – The Winthrop lacrosse program opened their 2024 season with a 20-2 loss to the Davidson Wildcats at home on Wednesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The visitors scored the first 13 goals of the night.
  • Scarlet Cifarelli got the Eagles on the board at the 11:38 mark of the third quarter.
  • The Wildcats scored six more goals.
  • Katie Witmer scored Winthrop's second and final tally with 5:40 remaining in the game.
  • Davidson scored one last time to account for the final margin of victory.
 NOTABLES (TEAM)
  • Winthrop moves to 100-95 all-time as a program.
  • Winthrop had eight saves to Davidson's five.
  • Winthrop nabbed 12 ground balls to Davidson's 11.
