SERIES HISTORY VERSUS DAVIDSON
This is the ninth meeting between the Eagles and the Wildcats, with Davidson leading the series 6-2. Davidson has won the last four contests, including last year's matchup in Davidson, N.C. by a final score of 16-6. Winthrop's most recent win in the series was a 10-5 margin at home on Mar. 19, 2017. The first meeting between the two teams was on Apr. 21, 2013, an 11-5 victory by Davidson in Rock Hill.
A LOOK AT THE EAGLES
Winthrop is coming off a 4-12 (1-8 Big South) record in 2023. The Eagles welcome nine newcomers to the squad and assistant coach
Leigh Olson. The Eagles also return 22 players, five of whom played in all 16 contests last season.
Seniors
Ellie Dutton,
Grayson McKenzie and
Claire Witmer return as Winthrop's top-three offensive pieces, as Dutton and McKenzie both led the Eagles in goals with 25 while Witmer found the back of the net on 21 occasions.
Sophomore
Scarlet Cifarelli led the Eagles in assists last season with 16. Cifarelli also tacked on 16 goals on 25 shots on goal.
The Eagles were ranked eighth in the Big South preseason poll and are in their third season under head coach
Kara Concheck. Concheck is Winthrop's third head coach in program history.
Winthrop is 100-94 all-time as a program, the second most wins in overall Big South women's lacrosse history behind High Point's 122.

LOOKING AHEAD
Winthrop travels to Durham, N.C. on Sunday, Nov. 18 for their first ever meeting with the Duke Blue Devils. The game will be at 2:00 p.m. EST and the game will be shown on ACCN Extra.
