Jolley, Murray, McCollum Earn CSC Academic All-District Team Honors

Rock Hill, S.C. – The 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District volleyball teams were announced as Winthrop had three players receive recognition.

Junior Avery Jolley, redshirt junior Isabella Murray and redshirt sophomore Rachel McCollum were named to the CSC Academic All-District teams. In order to be selected, honorees must have at least a cumulative 3.50 GPA and had to have participated in 90 percent of the team's contests or have started at least 66 percent of the games.

Jolley, who earned her First Team All-Conference honors for the first time in her career, was also voted the Big South Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. It's the first time an Eagle has earned that honor since Pohai Nu'uhiwa did so in 2007. This season Jolley finished first on the team in kills with 320, third on the team in aces with 18, assists with 25, digs with 263 and fifth on the team in blocks with 24. Jolley was named the Big South Player of the Week for matches played Nov. 4-10 and entered the 500-career dig club at USC Upstate on Nov. 8. She had a career-high in digs with 28 at Charleston Southern on Oct. 12. Jolley had 19 matches in double figures in kills, 12 matches in double figures in digs and 10 matches with a double double. Jolley played in all 27 matches, finishing the season with 320 kills, 25 assists, 18 aces, 263 digs and 24 blocks. In addition, Jolley earned a spot on the all-academic team.

Murray was voted to the First Team All-Conference for the first time after earning Second Team All-Conference honors in each of her first two seasons. Murray is Winthrop's first ever recipient of the setter of the year since the conference first awarded it in 2021. Murray was a seven-time setter of the week honoree after setting the Eagles to a league-leading 14.69 kills per set and a .239 hitting percentage through conference play. Murray led the conference with 11.60 assists per set through conference play and finished the regular season ranked 18th in the country in assists per set on the season. Murray led the team in assists with 963 and aces with 20. She also is second on the team in digs with 277 and fourth on the team in blocks with 37. Murray had 21 matches with more than 30 digs, 16 matches in double figures in digs and had 63 matches with a double double. Murray finished the season with 74 kills, 963 assists, 20 aces, 277 digs and 37 blocks, playing in all 27 matches.

McCollum was second on the team in kills with 213 and blocks with 51 and fifth on the team in assists with 14. McCollum played in all 27 matches, finishing the season with 213 kills, 14 assists, seven aces, 135 digs and 51 blocks. After the conclusion of the conference tournament, she was named to the 2024 Big South Volleyball All-Tournament Team.

Jolley, Murray and McCollum are the seventh, eighth and ninth Eagles all-time to earn this prestigious award. This is also the first time in their careers they have taken home an award from the CSC of any kind.
