Gearhart Announces Signees for 2025

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University volleyball head coach Heather Gearhart has announced the 2030 Signing Class. This class includes three of the four student-athletes: Morgan Heater, Maggie Czajka, and Reese Kincaid.

"I'm very excited about the versatility this class will bring to our gym," said Gearhart. "Almost all of them have played multiple positions comfortably throughout their careers, and that exemplifies the type of teammates they are, but also the type of well-rounded players we try to bring into this program. They also strive for excellence in the classroom and are great people off the court with big goals there as well, so I am looking forward to how they are going to make the program better as a whole."

Reece Kincaid | Outside Hitter | 6'2 | Portland, Ore. | Athena Volleyball Club

Kincaid has been a varsity starter at Central Catholic since her freshman season and has consistently ranked among the top 10 hitters in Oregon according to PrepDig. She helped lead her Athena 17-1 National team to a runner-up finish at Nationals. She earned First Team All-Conference, All-State Team, and All-Tournament Team honors at the Nike Tournament of Champions. Academically, she holds a 4.0 GPA, received an academic scholarship at Central Catholic, and was previously on the Honor Roll at Nelson High School.

"I chose Winthrop because of the culture among the team inspired by my coaches and knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of that," states Kincaid. "I could tell that they truly cared about each players' success and happiness. Rock Hill instantly felt like home and I missed it the moment that I left."

"Reese is another versatile front row player for us, having played at both the left and right pins," stated Gearhart. "She is a steady passer and defender in the back row as well as a great server and will provide a lot of options for us on both sides of the ball. I am excited to see her continued growth and development in our offensive system and style of play, and the ways that she can impact our culture and elevate the level of play in our gym."

Maggie Czajka | Middle Blocker | 6'2 | Brookfield, Wis. | Milwaukee Sting

Czajka was a four-year varsity athlete at Brookfield Central. She earned All-Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman, First Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore, Second Team All-Conference honors as a junior, and First Team All-Conference as a senior while serving as Team Captain. Czajka was also named to the AVCA All-Region Team during her senior campaign. She competed with Milwaukee Sting at the club level.

"I picked Winthrop because of the welcoming community, amazing coaching staff and team," said Czajka. "I instantly knew that it was the place for me as soon as I was on campus. With the supportive and welcoming community it helped me make my decision with being far away from home. I am so excited to become apart of this community soon!"

"Maggie is going to add great size at the net for us as she has played all three front row positions and can execute first and second contact skills as well," said Gearhart. "She is a dynamic attacker behind the setter as a middle, and I'm excited for all of the options her versatility provides. She has a lot of potential left and will impact us in a multitude of ways throughout her time here."

Morgan Heater | Setter | 6'1 | Union, Ky. | Northern Kentucky Youth Volleyball Club

Heater has been a varsity contributor at Ryle since eighth grade, earning the program's Varsity Impact Award in her first season. Her career accolades include multiple selections to the AVCA Phenom Watch List, KVCA Preseason Watch List, and NKGVCA All-Opponent Teams. She earned Region 9 Player of the Year and KCVA First Team All-State recognition. Heater also earned AVCA All-Region honors in 2025. At the club level, she competed with the Northern Kentucky Volleyball Club and earned AAU Nationals 15 Open "Showstopper" recognition. Heater is also the FCA President at Ryle.

"I chose Winthrop because of the amazing coaches, the supportive environment, and the great group of girls on the team," said Heater "From the moment I visited, I could tell that the coaches genuinely care about their players and push them to reach their full potential both on and off the court. The team atmosphere also stood out to me — everyone is welcoming, hardworking, and feels like a family. I knew this was the right place for me to grow as an athlete and as a person."

"Morgan has a great volleyball IQ, coming from a volleyball family and a competitive area for our sport," said Gearhart. "She has played multiple positions and can do all of the skills at an elite level. She's a natural leader and competitor, and I'm excited to see the different ways she can continue to elevate the program."
