Game Recap
- Mercer was awarded a penalty in the 10th minute and Carlos Santamaria converted
- The penalty was awarded after a hard shot from the top of the box by Santamaria that struck a defender and the whistle was blown for a handball
- The Bears took advantage of some miscommunication by the Eagle defense
- Santamaria put a pass over the defense as Barzee Blama ran on, Emory Crichlow chased and Jack Kilstrom came out to win the ball
- Blama gained control as everyone came together, then turned and placed a shot around Kilstrom
- Eagles had a good chance to get on the board in the 30th minute as a service by Rodrigo Ferreria to the back post was headed back in front to Jacob James but his effort between the top of the six and the spot was right at the keeper
- Bears took a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute when a Winthrop defender poked the ball away from a Mercer player in the box and the ball came right out to Segun Afolabi who laced a shot first time toward the upper left corner past a diving Kilstrom

Winthrop closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 2 at home against Presbyterian College with a 7 p.m. kickoff. There will be a pregame ceremony to recognize the 2024 men's soccer senior class.
