Game Recap
- Emma Smith had the first good scoring chance for the Eagles in the 8th minute as Cameron Celce crossed the ball into the box, Smith collected and fired a shot toward goal but Sara Curtis was there for the save
- In the 16th minute Jessica Gengler fired a left footed shot in the run of play from outside the box but Curtis was there to scoop up the shot toward the lower left corner
- In the 22nd minute, Remi Siner headed a ball off a corner that was headed toward the left side of the goal but Gengler was there to head the ball off the line and the Eagles cleared
- A give away in the defensive third in the early going of the second half led to the first goal of the game as the Lancers took advantage
- Coryn Silberstein stole the ball, dribbled toward goal and as she entered the area played a square ball to her left as Meghan Piazza ran on and struck a shot first time into the top left corner for a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute
- In the 50th minute, Evyn Schokora looked to equalize as she dribbled down the middle of the field until about 25 yards out as she cut back to her left and fired a solid shot but it was right at Curtis for the save
- In the 62nd minute, Monssi Avila-Gutierrez won a loose ball in the middle of the field took a dribble and then slipped a pass through the defense to Sophia Balliet who collected the ball and then fired a shot past Curtis at the near post to tie the game
Notables
- Mia Vrataric finished the game with eight saves in the match, the second-most in a game this season
- Longwood finished with a 19-6 advantage in shots and 9-3 in shots on goal
- The goal for Balliet was her third of the season and eighth of her career in 23 games

Winthrop will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 as it returns home to take on High Point at 3 p.m.
