Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off a 58-53 victory at Longwood in the Big South opener on Wednesday night, Winthrop women's basketball (7-7, 1-0 Big South) returns to the friendly confines of the Winthrop Coliseum for the Big South home opener Saturday afternoon vs. the Spartans of USC Upstate.

SERIES HISTORY VERSUS USC UPSTATE
This is the 28^th meeting between the Eagles and the Spartans, with Winthrop leading the series, 15-12. The Eagles won both contests last year, including the most recent contest, a 56-52 win on the road on Feb. 12, 2023. The first meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 14, 1977, with Winthrop winning 76-43 at home on the way to winning 11 of the first 16 meetings. USC Upstate has since won seven of the next 11 meetings since joining the Big South in 2012. USC Upstate went 11-20 (7-11 Big South) in 2022-23.

• Winthrop opened Big South competition by hanging on to win at Longwood by a final score of 58-53 on Wednesday night.
