Game Recap
- Winthrop had the first good opportunity in the 10th minute when Nick Guido won the ball near midfield, turned and dribbled into open space toward goal
- Guido slipped a pass to his left as he neared the top of the D as Kade McKenzie ran on, took a touch and then tried to beat the keeper low, but Chema Preciado made a kick save
- In the 20th minute, Rodrigo Ferreira found Grayson Woodard with a long ball over the top of the defense as Woodard struck a low shot near the edge of the box but the keeper was able to make a diving save the rebound was cleared
- In the 33rd minute, Aiden Williams played a ball toward the top of the box to Rafael Bellucci Marin, who let the ball roll past him to Ricardo Ferreira running on behind
- Ricardo Ferreira took two quick touches and then pulled the trigger on a shot that pinged off the crossbar and was cleared away
- Eagles continued to apply pressure offensively and it paid off in the 48th minute
- Stefan Sildor stole the ball about 35 yards out from goal, took a couple of dribbles and struck a shot that redirected off Aiden Williams running across the middle and into the right corner for the goal
- In the 59th minute the Eagles turned the ball over in its own end about 50 yards from goal as Bendeguz Burka collected the ball and then delivered a perfect ball over the top to Luc Granitur as he settled the ball and cracked a shot past Sam Bell to the lower left corner to tie the match
- Around a minute and a half later, UNF caught a break with the fortunate bounce as a long ball fell in between three Eagles, fell at the feet of Joaquin Acuna and he slipped the ball past Bell from about eight yards from goal
- In the 64th minute, the Winthrop defense lost its shape as Granitur dribbled down the middle of the field, cut back to his left from outside the 18 into open space and curled a shot into the left corner for a 3-1 advantage
- In the 69th minute, Rodrigo Ferreira ran onto a deflected ball just outside the 18 and laced a shot that clipped a defender and just rolled wide of the right corner
- Osprey added their final goal in the 80th minute as Zach Board scored off a free header on front of goal
Notables
- UNF had a 19-13 advantage in total shots and 8-4 in shots on goal
- The Ospreys had eight corners to five for the Eagles
- After the season opening win at Coastal Carolina 2-0, the Eagles have been outscored 6-1 in the last two contests
Looking Ahead
Winthrop will be off until next Friday, Sept. 8 when it heads to Greenville, N.C. to take on Furman at 6 p.m.
