ROCK HILL, S.C. – A key aspect of college baseball, like all sports at the collegiate level, is that there is never an off-season. Some players work, some train and others use the summer to suit up and continue playing the game.
Winthrop baseball currently has 11 players out on the diamond with collegiate summer leagues around the country.
The majority of the players have stayed local.
Charlie Evans is playing for the Carolina Disco Turkeys (Winston-Salem, N.C.) while
Nic Britt and
Dylan Ducharme are with the Regulators (Charlotte, N.C.) of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League.
Harrison Wilson is also in the SCBL as a member of the Queen City Corndogs (Charlotte, N.C.).
Reese Lumpkin and
Riley Huge are with the Florence Flamingoes (Florence, S.C.) of the Coastal Plain League, with Lumpkin set to play the second half of their season. All four of those teams are barnstorming teams.
Caleb Jones and
Parker Kruglewicz are currently training and both are scheduled to pitch the second half of the season with a club TBD.
Zan Rose and
Ty Hooks are teammates on the Strasburg Express (Strasburg, Va.) of the Valley League up in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia, with Rose set to pitch the second half of their season. Finally,
Alex Logusch is playing with the Ocean State Waves (Wakefield, R.I.) of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
