RADFORD, Va. – Winthrop used a hot start in the first inning and went on to defeat Radford on the road by a final score of 22-11, taking the three-game series from the Highlanders and scored their most runs in 16 seasons. The Eagles move their record to 23-22 overall and 11-9 in Big South play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles jumped out to an immediate 7-0 lead to begin the game, capped off by Brody Hopkins's RBI single.
- Radford cut the lead to five in their half of the inning on an RBI single and a fielder's choice.
- Jonathan Strauss scored on an error and then Nicholas Badillo took it back to a seven-run margin on an RBI single in the top of the second inning.
- In the bottom of the third an RBI single by the Highlanders made it 9-3 Winthrop.
- Winthrop would score six more runs to take a 15-3 lead in the top of the fourth, capped off by McKinley Erves's three-run RBI single.
- Two more runs by the Highlanders cut the Winthrop lead back into single digits in their half of the fourth.
- But the Eagles would go back up double digits at 16-5 in the top of the fifth when Joseph Szvetitz scored from third on an error.
- Erves hit a two-run blast to make it a 13-run lead in the top of the sixth.
- A home run by the home team made the score 18-6 in the bottom of the seventh.
- Three more runs would score for Winthrop in the top of the eighth, capped off by Szvetitz's RBI single.
- The Highlanders scored the last five runs of the game in the bottom of the ninth.
