Walk-Off Single By Nicholas Badillo Gives Winthrop Thrilling 7-6 Win In Game 1 With High Point

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Nicholas Badillo's walk-off single lifted to the Eagles to a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over High Point at home in the first of a three-game series with the Panthers. The Eagles move to 25-23 overall and 13-9 in the Big South.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • High Point hit a two-run homer in the top of the third.
  • Brody Hopkins got Winthrop on the board in the Eagle half of the third with a solo homer.
  • The Panthers went back up two in the top of the fourth on an RBI double.
  • Winthrop seized a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh on RBI singles by Ricky Teel, McKinley Erves and Joseph Szvetitz. Erves brought home two on the play.
  • High Point then took the lead at 6-5 in the top of the eighth on two errors and getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
  • But the Eagles tied the contest in their half of the eighth on Nate Chronis's RBI groundout.
  • Nicholas Badillo won the game for the Eagles on the single in the ninth.
