Rock Hill, S.C. – The annual Big South Conference Softball Awards were announced Wednesday afternoon as the Eagles garnered three honors.

Sophomore Reese Basinger was voted to the All-Big South First Team after a career season in the circle. Basinger set career-highs in wins (15), earned run average (1.97) and strikeouts (212).  Basinger opened the season with a three-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over North Carolina A&T as she struck out 13. On the season she struck out 10 or more batters in eight or more appearances.

Basinger is the first Eagle to reach 200-plus strikeouts in a single-season since Shahna Ashard had 216 I 2005. She is just the fourth different Eagle in program history with 200 or more in a season.

On Mar. 25, Basinger tossed a perfect game in a 6-0 win over South Carolina State as she struck out 13 in the game. It was the start of three straight games with 13 or more strikeouts as she struck out a career-high 16 in a 2-1 win over Radford. The perfect game was the first for an Eagle since Kelli Johnson on Apr. 3, 2004.

Senior Macy McCall was voted All-Big South Honorable Mention as she finished the year batting .314 while leading the team in runs (26) and RBI (29). This is the third straight season McCall has earned all-conference honors. She's the first three-time honoree since Ashley Westbrooks and the 16^th Eagle all-time to be named all-conference three or more times.

This past season McCall broke the program record for stolen bases in a career, finishing her Winthrop career with 81. The previous record was 71 held by Charlene Smith since she finished her career in 1992. McCall also became the 16^th Winthrop player to reach 100 career runs and finished 13^th all-time.  

Basinger was also named to the Big South All-Academic Team.
