CHARLESTON, S.C. – Winthrop split a doubleheader with Charleston Southern on the road by final scores of 4-3 and 2-6. The Eagles move to 15-17 overall and 4-7 in the Big South.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Winthrop took a 1-0 lead to start the game on Ramses Cordova's RBI single, scoring McKinley Erves.
• CSU tied it in the bottom of the second on an RBI single.
• Cordova gave the Eagles a 3-1 lead on a two-run double in the top of the third.
• The Bucs responded with a two-run double in their half of the third to knot the game at three.
• Nate Chronis put Winthrop ahead to stay in the top of the fifth on an RBI single, scoring Jonathan Strauss.
• The Eagle bullpen then shutout the Bucs in the final five innings to secure the victory.

• CSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout.
• Nate Chronis gave the Eagles the lead in the top of the second on a two-run homer.
• The Eagles never scored again after that while on the other side offensively the Bucs scored five runs the rest of the way.
