Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop dropped a doubleheader to Longwood, Saturday afternoon at Terry Field as it fell 8-4 and 6-2.

WHAT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Longwood struck first in the top of the second inning as Kelly Park hit a two-run home run to left
- The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the second as Ansley Lee started things off with a single
- Eagles eventually loaded the bases with one out as Lilly Stump came through with a single to the right side to score pinch-runner Ashley Wood
- Eagles hit into back-to-back force outs to end the threat
- Lancers got the two-run lead back in the top of the third as Lindsey Hay hit a one out home run to left to lead 3-1
- KaDedra Temple led off the bottom of the third with a double to right center, but the Eagles were unable to drive in a run
- Winthrop tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth as Temple hit a two-run home run to center
- But the Lancers retook the lead in the top of the sixth as Jaden Pone hit a two-run home run over the fence in center to lead 5-3
- Longwood added three more runs in the top of the seventh
- Macy McCall hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to make it 8-4 in favor of Longwood
Game 2
- Lancers grabbed an early 1-0 lead as they loaded the bases with no outs
- Hay drew a bases loaded walk, but Sydney Boulware worked out of it with a foul out and then back-to-back strikeouts
- In the bottom of the third inning, McCall hit a two-run home run to center for a 2-1 lead
- Longwood tied it at 2-2 in the top of the fourth as Pone hit a one out triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Lauren Taylor
- In the bottom of the fifth the Eagles had a chance to take the lead back as they put runners at first and second with one out but back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat
- Longwood manufactured a run in the top of the sixth as it put runners at second and third with one out
- Kayley Devivi drove in a run on a sacrifice fly for the 3-2 lead
- Longwood added three more runs in the top of the seventh on a three-run home run by Park
EXTRA BASES
- Paige Rivas extended her hitting streak to eight straight games, a season-high for the Eagles
- Eagles have dropped five games in a row for the first time this season
- McCall finished with two hits on the day, moving her Winthrop career total to move into 24th on the all-time hit list
- McCall also moved within three runs of 12th place on the all-time list as she now has 106

The teams will complete the weekend series on Sunday, Apr. 23 with the first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. There will be a senior recognition prior to the game.
