Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop softball split a doubleheader with Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon at Terry Field. The Eagles took game one 6-2 before falling 7-2 in the nightcap.

WHAT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Winthrop struck in the bottom of the first with two runs
- It started as Paige Rivas reached on an error and advanced to second on the play
- KaDedra Temple followed with a single to third base to put runners at the corners
- After Temple stole second, Macy McCall hit a deep fly to center for a sacrifice fly as Paige Rivas scored
- Two batters later Ella McGalliard hit a single to left to score Temple for a 2-0 lead
- In the second inning Lilly Stump led off with a single to second, moved to second on a ground out and third on a sacrifice
- Paige Rivas stepped up and singled through the hole at third as Stump scored for a 3-0 lead
- The Blue Hose got on the board in the top of the third inning as Kendall Owens delivered an RBI single up the middle
- In the bottom of the third the Eagles added to their lead as McGalliard line a shot over the fence in left center for a two-run home run and a 5-1 lead
- Stump gave the Eagles a 6-1 lead in the fifth inning as she doubled down the left field line with two outs to score pinch-runner Aleah Roy
- Blue Hose made it 6-2 in the sixth inning as Rebecca Clark drove in Morgan Farthing on a sacrifice fly
Game 2
- Eagles struck in the bottom of the first for an early lead and for the second straight game
- Paige Rivas hit a leadoff double to right center and moved to third on a ground out by Temple
- McCall walked and stole second to put two runners in scoring position
- Two batters later McGalliard delivered with a single through the hole at third to score Paige Rivas and McCall
- PC cut the lead in half when Mallory Fletcher led off the fifth inning with a home run that just made it over the glove of McCall leaping at the wall
- Bailey Watkins singled with one out and eventually scored on a double down the line by Farthing to tie the game at 2-2
- After a fly out Kaitlyn Tucker came through with an RBI single to left center to plate Farthing for a 3-2 lead
- Owens led off the sixth inning with a home run down the right field line to give PC a 4-2 lead
- PC added insurance in the top of the seventh as Freeman hit a 3-run home run with two outs for a 7-2 lead
EXTRA BASES
- Paige Rivas extended her hitting streak to four straight games while Peyton Rivas extended her streak of reaching base to seven straight
- McGalliard set a career-high for RBI in a single game with three batted in during game one and finished with five on the day
- McCall drew four walks on the day and scored two runs as she moved into a tie for 13th on the all-time runs list with 103
- The four walks gives her 74 for her Winthrop career, as she moves into 5th all-time
