Lacrosse Travels To Virginia With Contest Vs. Radford

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After falling 11-10 to Presbyterian at home, Winthrop lacrosse travels to Radford to face the Highlanders on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

SCOUTING RADFORD
Radford is currently 3-10 and 0-5 in the Big South, having defeated Kennesaw State, Delaware State and Akron. After starting out 0-4, Radford then went 3-1 over the next four games but have since dropped five straight games. Their most recent outing was a 14-6 loss to Furman at home last night. The Highlanders are led by Samantha Hurley, who is in her second year with the program and just the second coach in program history. Radford was picked to finish tied for eighth along with Longwood in the 2023 Big South Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll with 34 of the 100 possible points. Radford finished the 2022 campaign with a 2-14 overall record and 1-8 in the Big South.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST RADFORD
Winthrop leads the series with Radford, 6-1 and is 2-1 in Radford with the one loss being a 10-9 margin on the road on Apr. 7, 2021. The Eagles won the first five contests before dropping the aforementioned 2021 matchup. The first meeting between the Eagles and Highlanders was on Mar. 26, 2016 with Winthrop notching a 26-5 win in Virginia. The last outing between the two teams was a 13-10 Winthrop victory in Rock Hill on Apr. 9, 2022.
