Boca Raton, Fla. — Winthrop wrapped-up play at the Owl Classic with a 5-0 loss to Texas State, Saturday morning.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Ciara Trahan drew a leadoff walk in the top of the first and after stealing second came around to score as Anna Jones squeezed a grounder through the infield to right field
- In the bottom of the second inning the Bobcats pushed three across with two outs
- The first came on an RBI single from Trahan followed by a two-run single from Hannah Earls
- Piper Randolph singled up the middle to score Earls and push the lead to 5-0
- In the bottom of the third KaDedra Temple doubled to right field with two outs and eventually advanced to third but was stranded
- Reese Basinger suffered the loss in the circle as she tossed 4.2 innings allowing five runs on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts
EXTRA BASES
- McCall had her sixth multi-hit game of the season, tying her with Paige Rivas for the team lead
- McCall has now reached base in five straight games
- Over the weekend she had five hits and now has 123 in her Winthrop career, ranking 36th on the all-time hit list
ON DECK
Winthrop is on the road Tuesday, Mar. 7 when it heads down I-77 to Columbia, S.C. to take on South Carolina at 6 p.m.
