Eagles Welcome Wofford For Home Conference Opener

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After falling in double overtime 13-12 to High Point on the road after forcing the extra session with a six-goal fourth quarter comeback, Winthrop lacrosse welcomes the Terriers of Wofford College for the home conference opener on Saturday at 1 p.m.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford is currently 3-6 with wins over Xavier, Kennesaw State and Akron. The Terriers are coming off a 12-8 road loss to Presbyterian in their Big South opener and are 3-2 in their last five games after dropping their first four. Wofford is led by Jessie Aguglia, who is in her 1st year with the program. Wofford was also picked to finish seventh in the 2023 Big South Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll with 37 total votes. The Terriers finished the 2022 campaign with a 7-11 overall record and 3-6 in their first year in the Big South.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST WOFFORD
Winthrop leads the series, 3-0 and is 1-0 at home, with the home meeting being on Mar. 22, 2018, a 20-7 victory. That was also the first meeting between the two schools. Their second meeting was on Mar. 21, 2019, an 18-4 win on the road. The Terriers and Eagles met again last year, with Winthrop taking it 20-14 in Spartanburg on Apr. 23.
