ROCK HILL, S.C. –Winthrop lost to Gardner-Webb at home by a final score of 10-6 in the second game of the three-game series with the Runnin' Bulldogs. The Eagles move to 10-14 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in their half of the first inning when
Ricky Teel came home on a GW error while allowing
Joseph Szvetitz to get to first on a fielder's choice.
• On the next play
Jonathan Strauss flew out to score
McKinley Erves.
• In the top of the second inning GW hit a triple to cut the Winthrop lead to one.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs then scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead.
• Winthrop trimmed the lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth when Strauss came home via an error on
Charlie Evans's successful bunt.
• GW took it back to a five-run lead on an RBI double in the top of the fifth.
• The Eagles cut it to 8-5 on Szvetitz's solo shot and
Will Martin's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
• The Runnin' Bulldogs made it 9-5 on a throwing error by the Eagles in the top of the seventh.
• Winthrop continued to battle back, trimming to three once again on a Strauss sac fly in the Eagle half of the seventh.
• GW ended the day in the top of the ninth with a home run and an RBI single.
