ROCK HILL, S.C. –In a game that was delayed for nearly four hours due to inclement weather, Winthrop defeated Gardner-Webb at home by a final score of 8-4 in the series finale with the Runnin' Bulldogs, taking the series from the visitors from Boiling Springs, N.C. With the win, the Eagles move to 11-14 overall and 2-4 in Big South play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles took a 4-0 lead to start the game on Joseph Szvetitz's fielder's choice, Ty Hooks and Nate Chronis's RBI single and Szvetitz scoring on a balk.
- Gardner-Webb got on the board in the top of the fourth with a two-run RBI single and an RBI double on the next play, cutting Winthrop's lead to 4-3.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs then tied it up in the top of the seventh on an RBI single.
- Winthrop then went up 8-4 in the bottom of the eighth on RBI singles by Ramses Cordova and McKinley Erves, an RBI double by Chronis and a fielder's choice by Charlie Evans, scoring Cordova.
- Winthrop got the next three outs to secure the victory.
