Eagles Fall To Clemson On Walk-Off Three-Run Home Run

CLEMSON, S.C. –Winthrop fell to Clemson 8-5 on the road on a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. The Eagles drop their record to 9-13 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Tigers scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sac fly.
  • Winthrop tied it up in the top of the second when Jonathan Strauss came home on a wild pitch and then took a 3-1 lead when Nicholas Badillo hit a two-run homer.
  • Clemson tied it up in the bottom of the third on an RBI single and a fielder's choice.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers broke the tie on a two-run shot.
  • Undaunted, McKinley Erves hit the Eagles' second home run of the game to tie it at five in the top of the sixth.
  • Clemson ended the game with the three-run home run.
