HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After three and a half scoreless innings for both teams, the home standing Bucs took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
  • Still down 2-0, Winthrop tied the game in the top of the seventh inning when ETSU walked in both Joseph Szvetitz and Ty Hooks.
  • On the next play the Eagles broke the tie on an RBI single by Ricky Teel, scoring Ramses Cordova and Nate Chronis.
  • ETSU would score on an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to cut the deficit to 4-3 but with a runner on second threatening to tie the game with no one out, the Eagles were able to get out of the inning, highlighted by picking off the runner on second for the first out.
  • Parker Whittle came in with two outs in the eighth inning and recorded an out but Zan Rose proceeded to record the final three outs to secure the victory.
