Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop suffered its first loss of the season, falling 9-2 to Queens on Thursday evening at Terry Field.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Royals struck in the top of the first, pushing three runs across, with the big play coming on a fielding error that led to two runs
- Macy McCall walked with two outs in the bottom of the first and stole second to get into scoring position but was stranded
- Leading 4-0 in the top of the fourth, Queens added three more runs
- Two of the runs came on a two-run double to right by Jordyn Thompson
- Eagles got one back in the bottom of the fourth as Kaitlyn Tucker singled with one out and scored on a single down the right field line from Isabella Clark
- After Queens added two more in the top of the fifth the Eagles continued to try and get the offense going
- Paige Rivas singled with one out and scored two batters later on a triple to right center by McCall
EXTRA BASES
- McCall's steal in the first inning gave her 72 for her career as an Eagle as she became the program's all-time leader, surpassing Charlene Smith
- It was a record that held since Smith finished in 1992
- Tucker extended her hitting streak to four games while McCall did as well
- Tucker has now reached base in all five games on the year

Winthrop is back in action on Friday, Feb. 17 as it will host Marist at 5 p.m. in its second game of the Winthrop Eagle Classic.
