Game Recap
- Eagles had a good chance in the 8th minute when Joe McGee headed a ball to the lower left corner that was just tipped wide by Radford keeper Alex Eydelman
- In the 33rd minute Ricardo Ferreira curled a shot to the top right corner that was tipped wide on a diving save by Eydelman
- In the 40th minute, Rodrigo Ferreira let one fly from about 35 yards out straight from goal that screamed past Eydelman but hit the bottom of the crossbar and stayed out of the goal
- A short clear came right to Rafael Bellucci Marin who hit a low shot toward the left corner but a Radford defender inside the six cleared it away
- In the 50th minute Jack Kilstrom made his first save as Endjick Albert tested him with a shot to the bottom left corner
- The Highlanders grabbed some momentum around the 58th minute and continued to apply pressure on the Winthrop defense
- The first shot on frame that came from the Highlanders pressure came in the 65th minute when Alex Kryazhey tried to beat Kilstrom to his left but he pushed the ball wide
- A little over a minute later Jan Maldonado hit the left post from a shot outside the 18 but the rebound went out wide left and the Eagles cleared
- Winthrop regained some momentum offensively and it paid off in the 69th minute when Nick Guido was set free into space down the left side
- Guido entered the box and cracked a shot on frame that was saved by Eydelman but the rebound squirted behind him and across the goal mouth as Ricardo Ferreira tapped it across the line for the goal
- Ricardo Ferreira nearly made it 2-0 in the 90th minute when he received a pass near the edge of the 18 with just him and Eydelman as he curled the ball toward the top corner and it hit the post and Radford cleared
- The Highlanders earned a free kick about 30 yards out in the final seconds but the service into the box was headed away by Winthrop to hold on for the win
