Eagles Fall At Clemson Tuesday Night

Clemson, S.C. – Winthrop men's soccer opened the scoring, but Clemson answered with four consecutive goals in a 4-1 victory, Tuesday night at Riggs Field.

  • The Eagles struck first in the 32nd minute as Rodrigo Ferreira's shot was blocked but Josh Szcech scored on a shot to the bottom left corner seconds to lead 1-0
  • It is Szech's first goal as an Eagle
  • The Tigers drew level in the 37th minute when Ousmane Sylla and Remi Okunlola connected with Nathan Richmond
  • Clemson grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute as Richmond set up Joran Gerbet for the go-ahead goal
  • Around five minutes later the Tigers added another as Shawn Smart scored with a shot to the left corner off a pass from Enrique Montana

Notables
  • Jack Kilstrom finished the game with six saves, one shy of his career-high
  • This was the first matchup between Winthrop and Clemson during the regular season since 2006
