Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop swept the regular-season series from Presbyterian at home by a final score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18). In doing so, the Eagles won their sixth straight match and moved into sole possession of second place in the Big South standings.

How it Happened
Set 1 | Neither team could gain any separation, as the entire set was a near stalemate. Tied at 12, two kills by
Avery Jolley and a kill by
Brookelynn Thomas put Winthrop ahead 15-13 only to see Presbyterian take an 18-17 lead by scoring five of the next seven points. Winthrop then rallied to go back out in front at 24-21 by scoring seven of the next 10 points. Thomas's kill capped off the run. PC got one more point on the next play but a Thomas kill put the Eagles up 1-0 in the match.
Set 2 | Trailing 4-0, the Eagles rallied to tie it at four on two PC errors and kills by Thomas and
Isabella Murray only to have the Blue Hose go up 9-6 by scoring five of the next seven points. Down by that same score, Winthrop stormed back to lead 19-16 on three kills by Jolley, two kills each by
Teagan Sychterz and
Reece Rhoads, a Jolley ace, three PC errors and a kill by Thomas, forcing a timeout to be called by the Blue Hose. The Eagles kept it going after the break, scoring four more points and seizing a 23-16 lead. Winthrop went on to take a 2-0 lead in the match a few plays later.
Set 3 | Down 2-0, the Eagles scored nine of the next 11 points to lead 9-4. Thomas led the initial Winthrop run with three kills and an ace. PC fought back to cut it to one at 9-8 by scoring the next four points only to watch the Eagles punch back with a 7-2 run to go up 16-10. The visitors then scored the next two points but Winthrop took it back up to six at 20-14 by scoring four of the next six points. Jolley capped the small run with a kill. The Blue Hose gave it one last push, scoring three straight points to cut it to 20-17. But it was too little too late for the opposition from Clinton, as Winthrop concluded the match by scoring five of the last six points.
