Eagles Defeat North Carolina A&T Friday Night

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program defeated North Carolina A&T at home in the first game of their series Friday evening.
 
The Eagles are 15-32 (8-11 Big South) overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Szvetitz smacked a home run to left field for an early 1-0 lead
  • After holding A&T scoreless for two more innings, an RBI single from Dillon Morton and an RBI triple from Miller increased the lead to three
  • A&T held strong and cut the lead to 3-2 as they used a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a wild pitch in the seventh
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Winthrop exploded offensively
  • Robby Taul scored on a sacrifice fly to start the fireworks
  • Another RBI single from Morton and an RBI double from Tepper increased the lead to 6-2
  • Ethan Fewell's RBI single brought home another run before Ty Hooks' double scored him for a six-run advantage
  • After a lengthy delay, A&T countered with a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to cut into the lead
