ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program defeated Charleston Southern at the Winthrop Ballpark Saturday afternoon, clinching the weekend series in the process.
The Eagles are 12-18 (6-2 Big South).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston Southern used a two-run single to take the early lead
- Ty Hooks doubled down the right field line to score CJ Conrad for the Eagles' first run of the game
- A Dillon Morton two-run homer gave Winthrop a 3-2 lead after the first inning
- Conrad scored Sean Flannery on a sacrifice fly in the second for a 4-2 advantage
- The Buccaneers brought in two more runs in the fourth to tie the game
- A Conrad double, a Hooks sacrifice fly, and a Joey Tepper single gave Winthrop a 7-4 lead
- Charleston Southern used an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-5 in the top of the sixth
- Ethan Fewell and Conrad homered in back to back innings for a 9-5 advantage
- The Buccaneers brought in two runs in the ninth, but left the bases loaded as the Eagles took the series with a 9-7 victory
