CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The BIg South Conference has announced the seeding for the 2022 Women's Lacrosse Championship and Winthrop is seeded sixth after finishing the season with a 4-13 (3-6 Big South) record.
High Point and Mercer finished as regular-season co-champions at 8-1, and the Panthers secured the No. 1 seed with its regular-season win over the No. 2-seeded Bears back on April 23. Both squads earned byes into the semifinal round.

Furman and Campbell finished the regular season tied for third-place with identical 7-2 records and the Paladins claimed the No. 3 seed with its win over the fourth-seeded Camels on April 23.

Gardner-Webb returns to the postseason for the first time since 2016, as the Runnin' Bulldogs closed the year with a 5-4 league mark and earned the No. 5 seed. GWU will visit Campbell in the Saturday's first round. Winthrop, Wofford and
Longwood
all tied for sixth in the final regular-season standings with identical 3-6 league records. After each team went 1-1 against each other and all three teams have wins over the same conference opponents, the Eagles earned the No. 6 seed based on their +4 goal differential amongst the tied teams (Wofford 0, Longwood -4).

The 2022 Big South Lacrosse Championship will be played at the higher seeds in the first round, then head to High Point for semifinal and final. Every match of the championship will be shown on ESPN+. The Big South's tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship.
The Eagles are slated to play third-seeded Furman on Saturday, Apr. 30 at noon in Greenville, S.C. During the regular season, the Paladins narrowly defeated Winthrop 15-14 in overtime at Eagle Field. The winner of Saturday's contest advances to play second-seeded Mercer in High Point, N.C. on Friday, May 6.
