ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program fell to The Citadel at the Winthrop Ballpark Tuesday night.
 
The Eagles are 13-28 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Citadel put two men on base in the top of the second, but three straight outs ended the threat
• CJ Conrad doubled in the bottom of the frame, but was stranded on second base
• The Bulldogs pushed across their first run on a bases-loaded walk in the third
• Morton tied the score with a towering shot to right field
• The visitors used a passed ball to re-take the lead in the fourth
• The Eagles had men on first and third in the inning, but were unable to get either home
• An RBI single from Spyke tied the score again in the fifth
• The Citadel used a sacrifice fly and another bases-loaded walk for a 4-2 lead
• Consecutive RBI singles from Ty Hooks and Conrad tied knotted the contest at four apiece
• The Bulldogs broke the game wide open in the eighth as they scored seven runs
• Morton's RBI single in the bottom of the frame cut into the lead, but Winthrop was unable to score again
