ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop lacrosse program fell to Mercer in their final home game of 2022 on Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bears began the match with three straight scores
• Alyssa Angelo and Ellie Dutton scored back to back goals to cut the lead to 3-2
• Mercer tacked on two goals for a three-goal lead before Molly Dankowski scored to stem the tide
• Both teams traded scores before the Bears notched three straight for a six-goal lead at the halftime break
• Although the Eagles played hard, Mercer netted the next seven scores for a commanding 19-6 lead
• Angelo and Witmer scored down the stretch around two more Bear goals to provide the final margin

NOTABLES

• Angelo led the way with four goals and an assist
• Molly Dankowski had a career-high nine draw controls to lead the Eagles
• Kelsey Johnson had seven saves
