ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program fell to South Carolina at the Winthrop Ballpark Wednesday night.
 
The Eagles are 13-24 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• South Carolina got two runs across in the first inning on a wild pitch and an RBI double
• Winthrop put two runners on base, but the Eagles were unable to get either home
• Conrad hit an RBI single in the second to cut the lead to one
• Tepper scored on a wild pitch to tie the game in the third
• The Eagles loaded the bases that same inning, but a groundout ended the threat
• Winthrop loaded the bases again in the sixth, but were unable to get any runners home
• Another Eagle threat was thwarted in the bottom of the seventh as Khyree Miller was robbed of at least a double on a great catch by the Gamecock center fielder
• South Carolina used a chopped single to take a 3-2 lead in the eighth
• The Gamecocks used a sacrifice fly in the ninth to tack on an insurance run and used a wild pitch for a 5-2 lead
