BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Winthrop baseball program defeated Gardner-Webb Friday afternoon, evening their series at one in the process.
The Eagles are 13-21 (7-4 Big South).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tepper got on base with a single in the first inning, but was stranded there
- Gardner-Webb used an RBI double to get on the board in the bottom of the frame
- The Runnin' Bulldogs tacked on two more runs on an RBI single and a wild pitch to take a 3-0 lead
- Winthrop got on the board in the fifth inning as Taul singled to center to bring home Conrad
- Conrad hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth to slice the lead to a single run
- Tepper had an RBI single in the seventh inning to tie the score before Gardner-Webb scratched across a run of their own in the bottom of the frame
- Jonathan Strauss homered in the eighth to give the Eagles a 5-4 lead
- Dillon Morton and Tepper hit back to back RBI single for a three-run cushion
- Gardner-Webb managed to close within 7-5, but Winthrop closed out the game in the ninth inning
