Huntington, W.Va. — Winthrop ended its losing skid with a 9-1 win over UMES and 6-3 win over IPFW, Friday afternoon at the Thundering Herd Round Robin.

WHAT HAPPENED
vs. UMES
- Eagles grabbed an early lead as Macy McCall led off the first with a single to center, then stole second
- McCall moved to third as Paige Rivas reached on an error
- After back-to-back strikeouts McCall scored on a wild pitch
- In the second the Eagles went ahead 2-0 as Vianna Rodriguez doubled with two outs and Ashton Vanhouse followed with a double to left center to score Rodriguez
- Eagles pushed six runs across in the fourth inning highlighted by a Vanhouse RBI single and two-run double off the bat of Kailtyn Tucker
vs. IPFW
- McCall led off the first with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on wild pitch
- Rivas came through with a single to left to plate McCall for the early lead
- Rivas then stole second and Lauren King followed with a walk to put another runner in scoring position
- Two batters later Lauren Hutcherson came through with a single to left center to load the bases
- Tucker made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly to left field and then a single by Bailey Warren scored King for a 3-0 lead
- After the Mastadons got one back in the third, the Eagles put three more on the board in the fourth
- Tucker walked to lead things off and then Warren singled to left center
- Mackenzie Smith stepped in and blasted a three-run shot to left center for a 6-1 lead
- IPFW added another run in the fifth and another in the seventh as the Eagles finished the day with two wins
- Reese Basinger tossed a complete game allowing three runs on nine hits with a walk and six strikeouts for her first collegiate victory
- Sydney Boulware tossed a complete game of five innings allowing one run on three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts
EXTRA BASES
- King's streak of reaching base came to an end at 11 straight while McCall extended hers to 13 in a row
- Paige Rivas extended her hitting streak to a six games
- Winthrop was 12-for-23 with runners in scoring position (.522) on the day
- McCall has 74 stolen bases in her career (59 at Winthrop) and reached 100 career runs (100)
- McCall is currently 3rd on the Winthrop all-time stolen base list, now trailing the all-time leader by 12 (Charlene Smith, 71)
- Tucker had 4 RBI on the day, which included tying a career-best with three in the win over UMES
