ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop lacrosse program fell to Gardner-Webb at Eagle Field Tuesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lauren Asher spurred on the Eagles early as she had the first three Winthrop goals of the contest
• As a result, the Eagles took a 3-2 lead just over five minutes into the contest
• Gardner-Webb scored the next two goals to take a slim lead into the second quarter
• The Runnin' Bulldogs scored twice more to open the second period for a 6-3 lead
• Asher scored her fourth goal to cut the lead to two
• Gardner-Webb notched four of the next five goals for a 10-5 lead at halftime
• After an early Runnin' Bulldog score, Lexi Johnson and Claire Witmer sliced the lead to four
• Gardner-Webb had the lone goal for the rest of the period, keeping their five-goal advantage through the third quarter
• Ellie Dutton scored less than 30 seconds into the fourth period to cut the lead to 12-8
• The lead was down to 13-10 after back to back goals from Katie and Claire Witmer
• The Runnin' Bulldogs used three consecutive goals to take a six-goal advantage
• Jordan Ball and Asher cut the lead back to four, but three more Gardner-Webb scores provided the final margin

NOTABLES

• Asher led the Eagles with five goals and an assist on five shots, notching the 100th goal of her career while Johnson and Claire Witmer each notched two goals
• Bailey had a season-high seven draw controls
