Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop softball fell 3-2 in the final game of its Big South Conference series with Radford, Sunday afternoon at Terry Field.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Radford grabbed an early lead as Cori McMillan doubled to left center with one out
- Hannah Morris hit a grounder in the hole at first as Lauren Hutcherson dove to keep the ball from going to the outfield
- As Hutcherson was able to do so the ball slipped behind her and McMillan was able to race home
- In the bottom of the second the Eagles scored two to take the lead
- Hutcherson led off with a single down the right field line and then hustled all the way from first to score on a double by Lauren King down the left field line
- Three batters later Ashton Vanhouse singled to center, scoring King from second ahead of the throw
- In the top of the sixth, Radford regained the lead as McMillan led off with a walk and then stole second
- McMillan moved to third on a ground out and then scored on a sacrifice fly to right center by Madison Canady
- Wilson singled with two outs and then stole second to get into scoring position
- Hannah Poole singled to center to score Wilson for the lead but the Eagles did get Poole trying to get to second on the play to end the top half
- In the bottom of the sixth, Hutcherson single with one out followed by a single to right on a full count King
- Radford switched pitchers as Emily Spingarn came in to get Mackenzie Smith to fly out to left and Kaitlyn Tucker to fly out to center to end the threat
- Basinger tossed a complete game allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts
EXTRA BASES
- Hutcherson finished with her 4th multi-hit game of the season while King posted her second
- Basinger finished with seven strikeouts, the fourth time she's had seven or more in a start this season
- Basinger in the last 23 innings pitched has 25 strikeouts to five walks
ON DECK
Winthrop will be off during the week and back in action Mar. 25-26. The Eagles travel to Hampton, Va. to take on Hampton in a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 25. The third game will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 26.
