Clemson, S.C. — Winthrop softball dropped a midweek contest at 15
th-ranked Clemson with an 8-0 defeat, Tuesday evening.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Clemson grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first with two outs as Valerie Cagle hit a solo shot to left
- In the second inning the Tigers drew a one out walk and then pinch-runner Carlee Shannon stole second
- On the next play the Eagles had a fielding error but were able to get Shannon trying to get to third
- Maddie Moore, who reached on the error, stole second and scored on a soft single to right by JoJo Hyatt
- In the third inning, Alia Logoleo hit a three-run homer for a 5-0 lead
- Clemson hit another three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth as Cagle notched her second of the game
EXTRA BASES
- Paige Rivas singled in the fourth inning to extend her streak of reaching base to 13 straight games
- All eight runs in the game for the Tigers came with two outs
- The Eagles win streak comes to an end at four straight but they have won seven of the last nine
ON DECK
Winthrop is back in action Saturday afternoon as it hosts a doubleheader with Radford to open up a three-game series. The first game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and the series will wrap-up on Sunday, Mar. 20 at 1 p.m.
