Eagles Stifled In Loss To Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Winthrop lacrosse program lost to Virginia Tech on the road Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Hokies struck first early in the first quarter
  • Alyssa Angelo matched that with her first score of the afternoon
  • Virginia Tech notched the next three goals of the afternoon
  • Lauren Asher then scored to cut the deficit to two before the Hokies scored the last goal of the period
  • Virginia Tech scored 11 straight goals across the next two quarters for a commanding 16-2 lead
  • Angelo, Asher, and Ellie Dutton scored in the final quarter to complete the scoring for the Eagles
NOTABLES
  • Angelo and Asher led the way offensively with two goals apiece while Angelo had four draw controls
  • Krystal Beebe led the way with two draw controls
  • Kelsey Johnson recorded nine saves
