Eagles Fall To Xavier At Home

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Winthrop baseball program lost to Xavier at the Winthrop Ballpark Thursday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • In the top of the 1st, Xavier started the game by scoring on a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0
  • After a flurry of hits in the top of the 2nd, the Musketeers scored five runs to extend their lead 6-0
  • In the bottom of the 2nd, the Eagles threatened after a double from Jack Spyke but were unable to drive in any runs
  • In the top of the 3rd, the Musketeers would push across three more runs to make the score 9-0.
  • In the bottom of the frame, the eagles would leadoff with another double courtesy of Robby Taul but were unable to score a run
  • Xavier homered in the top of the 4th to make the margin 10-0.
  • After loading the bases in the bottom of the 4th, Robby Taul singled to score two runs making the score 10-2
  • In the top of the 6th, Xavier would push 3 runs across to extend the lead 13-2
  • In the top of the 9th, the Musketeers would hit a solo homerun to make the score 14-2
  • In the bottom of the 9th, the Eagles were able to load the bases but were unable to score and complete the comeback
