Eagles Fall To Liberty In Game One

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Winthrop baseball program took a first-inning lead on Friday, but the 21st-ranked Liberty Flames took control in the fourth inning and never looked back as they dealt the Eagles an 8-1 defeat.
 
The Eagles are 2-3 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jack Spyke notched an RBI single to score Joey Tepper in the top of the first inning
  • The score stayed the same until the bottom of the fourth
  • The Flames got on the board with a three-run homer in that same frame
  • Liberty used another three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead
  • The home team tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to provide the final margin
