WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a 7-8 (3-3 Big South) record in 2021. The Eagles welcome seven newcomers to the squad; the newcomers include six freshmen and sophomore transfer
Krystal Beebe from Division II Florida Southern.
Winthrop had two players named to the preseason Big South all-conference team as
Kimora Bailey was named preseason defensive player of the year and midfielder
Alyssa Angelo was also honored.
The Eagles were ranked fifth in the Big South preseason poll and are in their first season under new leadership as head coach
Kara Concheck was named to the post in January.
Winthrop traveled to East Carolina for their season opener and came away with a 17-7 loss, although the Eagles did take an early 3-1 lead.
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
The Kennesaw State Owls are 1-1 so far this season as they fell to Florida in their season opener and defeated PAC12 opponent Oregon at home. KSU welcomes ten new members to a team that finished 5-10 (1-2 ASUN) last season. Siena Gore and Chesslyn Lamar lead the way offensively for the Owls as they have seven and five goals, respectively. Gore also has two assists for a total of eight points.
ALL-TIME AGAINST KENNESAW STATE
The teams have played seven times with Winthrop leading the series 4-3. In the most recent matchup, the Eagles won 9-8 on the road on Mar. 30, 2021.
