Feb. 17, 2022 | Dedmon Center

How it Happened
First Quarter | Winthrop scored the first four points of the game before Radford scored two buckets of their own to tie the score. Three straight three pointers between the teams saw the Eagles take a 10-7 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the quarter. A 11-3 run from the Highlanders to end the period gave the home team a five-point lead heading into the second quarter.

Second Quarter | Radford made a three pointer to extend their lead to eight early in the period, but Winthrop came back with a couple scores of their own. A Luka Malinka three pointer with six minutes until the halftime break cut the lead to two and another one four minutes later tied the game at 29. The Highlanders scored the last basket of the half to take a one-point lead into the locker room.

Third Quarter | The Eagles used consecutive layups from Sydney Hunter to take an early lead. Radford used a 9-0 run over the next five minutes to take an eight-point lead and a three pointer just less than a minute later gave the homestanding Highlanders a double-digit lead. Winthrop and Radford went back and forth for the rest of the period as the Highlanders took an 11-point lead into the final stanza.

Fourth Quarter | The Highlanders used an 11-0 run to begin the fourth quarter and took a 22-point lead, seizing control in the process. The Eagles tried valiantly to make a comeback, but Radford turned them away at every attempt. Winthrop scored the last three points of the game to provide the final margin.
