Game Recap
  • In the 3rd minute Dee Burnett had a good chance to get the Eagles in front
  • Chela Paris slipped a pass to Burnett inside the box and after taking a touch she struck a shot that was saved by Chloe Leffler, who had to fall backward to fall on the ball that had slowly slipped behind
  • Runnin' Bulldogs did grab the lead in the 21st minute when they were awarded a penalty kick and Maddie Turlington converted for the lead
  • In the 29th minute off a free kick for the Eagles the ball was cleared high in the air in the box as Katy Feskorn ran on and headed the ball toward goal as Bailey Fudala ran on and redirected it with a header but right into the arms of Leffler
  • In the 43rd minute Lauren Kelley received a pass from Janae Massey, took a touch and dribbled a defender before a left footed effort that was just tipped wide by a diving Leffler
  • Gardner-Webb doubled its lead seconds before halftime as Ainsley Sutherland found the back of the net with 17 seconds remaining
  • Winthrop cut the deficit in half in the 49th minute as Annabel Thomas netted her seventh goal of the year
  • Thomas took a pass from Paris, turned and dribbled straight toward goal, dribbled back to the middle of the field pas a Gardner-Webb defender and as she approved the top of the 18 she cracked a shot to the upper right corner that hit off the bottom of the crossbar and in the net
  • Klara Overfelts collected a loose ball, dribbled to her right and through traffic fired a shot to the lower right corner that beat a diving Izzy Giarrizzi
  • In the 57th minute Emma Smith's free kick from around 25 yards was to the lower left corner but Leffler made the diving save

Notables
  • Gardner-Webb finished with an 18-8 advantage in shots and 9-4 in shots on goal
  • Giarrizzi finished with six saves while Leffler had three
  • Thomas became the first Eagle with seven goals in a season since her sister Allie Thomas had seven goals in 2017
