Game Recap
- First half saw each team work the ball into the final third and create a couple of chances but it was still scoreless at the half
- The first good scoring chance came in the 22nd minute when Leonardo D'Ambrosio put a shot on frame from a tough angle as Gareth Shaw had it covered and made the save
- Joe McGee created a couple of chances as he dribbled to free himself up to hit a shot in the 24th minute as he curled it into the arms of Olly Marshall
- McGee had a pretty similar shot that was covered again by Marshall in the 27th minute
- In the second half, the Eagles created the first dangerous opportunity in the 68th minute as Stefan Sildor's shot from just outside the 18 to the lower right corner was forced away by a diving save from Marshall
- In the 75th minute Iker Carew had a look from about 12 yards away to the left of Shaw, who was well positioned and cushioned the shot into the ground and collected it for the save
- In the 77th minute, Sildor won the ball and worked his way into the box as he played a ball to McGree in front as he struck a shot first time that hit off the post and rolled across the goal mouth and then spun over the line
- In the 79th minute off a corner, Aiden Williams service hit the ground near the back post and after two hops Sean Green laced a low shot into the lower right corner to give the Eagles the late lead
- In the 84th minute, Lucas Cedermark tested Shaw looking to tie the game
- Cedermark retrieved a pass wide, cut back toward the middle of the field and into the box as he struck a shot headed to the upper right corner that Shaw leaped and swatted away wide to keep the slate clean
Notables
- This is the first time the Eagles have recorded three consecutive shutouts since the 2015 team had four straight
- It's also the first time the Eagles have shutout the College of Charleston since 2009 in a 1-0 win on the road
- Eagles edged the Cougars in shots 14-13 and had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal
- Cougars had five corners while the Eagles had three
- Shaw made three saves to earn his third straight shutout
Looking Ahead
Eagles remain at home and are back to Big South action when they host USC Upstate on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. There will be a senior recognition prior to kickoff.
